A horse named Barbaro died today. Evidently he touched people with his will and spirit to fight on, despite an injury that would have had a normal horse euthanized. It's easy for a horse to fight like that when it's fueled by over a million dollars worth of surgeries, veterinary services, and rehabilitation. Sure, that staggering pile of money could have helped rehabilitate several soldiers wounded in battle or cured a pale, veiny little boy of leukemia, but damn that horse could fight! So we salute you, Barbaro. We salute you for so bravely fighting because some guys paid a shitload of cash to keep you alive in hopes of making a shitload more cash. God bless you, you stupid, soulless horse. God bless you.
Oh, and like a bunch of soldiers and civilians died in Iraq, and a bomb blew up some people in Israel. Toodles and hugs.

Yeah, what the fuck. That poor horse suffered. They should have taken him out to the back 40 long ago. And his owners should like adopt an Ethiopian kid or something.
HAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! MIss Employed, I laughed so hard when I read that, I spit Diet Dew all over my screen!! Good times, good times...sigh
i feel terrible about what happened to barbaro, but then again i'm a horse person. at least the owners are donating the millions of dollars worth of medical devices to help other injured horses.
But is it really the media event that the press has blown it up to be? Yes, a very famous racing horse had to be put down. It is an item of interest. But the top story of the day?? While different in principle, this is analogous to the time CNN.com ran headline screaming that Lance Bass came out of the closet right next to a story about 40 people dying in Afghanistan. Our priorities about what is news are completely out of whack.
I agree with you, J. Although, looking around a crowded room, any room, how many of the people really give a rats tookus about much of anything? Ask a few some questions about their local government and I bet only some men and hardly any women could tell you who is who and what the structure is. Our morals and ethics have declined dramatically in the past 20 years. We have to be entertained for anything to hold our interest. We are desensitized along with being beaten to the bone with political correctness. Everyone has a cause.
It'd be nice if the cause was to just do the right thing. We all know right from wrong.
If the people in power did the right thing, we wouldn't worry about who's telling the truth and could make decisions based on fact instead of what we hope is the lesser of evils.
A tangent, sorry.
no, i don't think it's worthy of news story of the day, but then again miss usa getting caught drinking underage was the top story a few weeks ago. i'd rather hear about a dead horse than that.
I guess they're just feeding us what the unwashed masses want to hear. Dead horses, drinking hot underage beauty queens, gay stars, and dead gay underage drunk horses. We are a society of idiots.
Yeah, you nailed it. The death of that stupid horse actually led the news.
What was that you said about drunk underage beauty queens?
Quit yer bitchin! CNN ran Tyra Banks is fat and I needed that. I hear it is creating "a buzz" from Yahoo too! Keep up people. Is Lance Bass related to John Negroponte? I read John has an artist brother and adopted an Ethiopian. That SI Barbaro article was so long it made me wonder what the writer could have possible done to take up so much space.
OMG Yes!!! Did you see how fat she is? I totally--*ahem* I mean how insulting to the American people. *cough*
That article was indeed insanely long. The guy probably spent the last 8 months writing the thing just in case (obits and eulogies are often written far in advance for celebs, so why not a celeb horse?) and then turned it into his editor covered in tears yesterday.
I tried to adopt a kid, but Angelina Jolie and Madonna snatched them all up before my turn in line. They even got all the toothless, scabby ones from Arkansas.
Um actually it was quite a touching story. The trainer was a man who pulled three children out of a burning plane baout 10 years ago, and they were at the Kentucky Derby this year to see this horse run (they're grown up now). Oh, and he won the derby. The owners and everyone else invested the last 8 months in trying to save him, but it was too late. I feel sorry for the owners and the horse. I mean, if you really love someone or something, you should understand you'd do anything for them, and not laugh at something like this.
I don't understand, and I laugh about everything. Thanks then!
