Brown Christmas

I just got back a few hours ago from my all too brief excursion to North Dakota. As I mentioned earlier, we celebrated Christmas early this year because Mom has to work at the hospital (she's worked as an RN in the hospital in my hometown for 32 years) tonight and Christmas day. Such is the life of those in medicine. Not one of us cares which day we observe Christmas, as long as the family is together.

One thing that struck me as we drove the three hours from Fargo to Mom's place was there was hardly a spot of snow to be seen. This is North Da-fucking-kota we're talking about! I do not remember a single Christmas where there was no snow on the ground. In recent years, there have been one or two times where there was a lot of bare ground in the Minneapolis-St Paul area, but you could almost guarantee you'd see snow by Alexandria or Fergus Falls.

Maybe Al Gore was right! Maybe he DID invent tEh intr0-webZ!
