Chocolate popcorn

In the last week or two, I've made delicious homemade caramel corn a couple of times and after being quite good in my workout and eating habits the last few days (save the big Thanksgiving meal), I decided to wing a recipe for a new taste sensation, chocolate popcorn. Well, I didn't really wing it. I had a recipe for chocolate frosting, heated it up, drizzled it on the popcorn, baked it at 250 degrees for 15 minutes like I would the caramel corn, and...well, the result was not worth the effort. Don't get me wrong, it tasted ok, but I'm not going to send a whole pan of "tastes ok" straight to my gut and ass. So I threw most of it out. I decided to drink some Summit instead. That shit tastes more than ok.

Hmmm....sounds a little too rich. Caramel corn however, is like riches sent straight from god. Hard to improve upon that.
Exactly. And the consistency of the chocolate didn't lend itself well to cooling to a nice hard shell like caramel corn. Messy and too rich.
I have been craving chocolate popcorn lately. If I find a worthy recipe I will gladly share with you!
I'll get you a worthy recipe. My cousin is Mennonite and if there is one thing they can do, it's make chocolate popcorn. It'll be after Christmas though...... you won't give a crap if your gut gets as big as a basketball when you taste this stuff.
Dish, dizulli! Miss E and I can make some and let you know what we think. :-) Like I said, I think Phillip was right. What I made was way too rich. And I think I drizzled too much of the chocolate on the popcorn.
how in the hell did my name get posted instead of my user name....weird. I guess I suck at blogger. Oh well, phillip and fireman236 are one in the same.
Speaking of chocolate popcorn...has anyone ever had candy kettlecorn? Someone at work a few years ago passed out homemade candy kettle corn, all colorful and shiny. I excitedly took a bite and almost threw up my entire lower intestine...It was hands down the most awful "treat" I have ever tasted. Has anyone else had this? And if so, did I just get a bad batch made by an idiot, or is it really that bad?
Diz, I am very much looking forward to you sharing the recipe. I don't know if I can wait that long but has taken forever to find a good recipe anyhow. What's a few more weeks?
I don't think I've ever had candy kettle corn. I'll bet you just had a shitty batch though.
