Spice up my LJ

No, I'm not talking about LiveJournal, I'm talking about my usual Friday lumberjack breakfast. Today I decided to mix it up a bit by trying Caribou's new Pumpkin Spice Coffee Steamer. Basically it's their answer to Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte. At first taste, I was pleased with my Caribou Pumpkin thingy, but after downing most of it, I have to say it's too jam packed with spice. The flavor is a bit overwhelming. I hate to say it, but I think Starbucks has your number in the Pumpkin Spice department, Caribou. May I suggest trying a tie-in deal with another company? Like Jimmy John's Big John Latte, or a Chipotle Carnitas Burrito Latte? Hoo boy! There's a trip to the bathroom that'll wake the neighbors!

For starters... Steamers don't have any espresso in them, where Latte's do, so there would be a huge taste difference there. Secondly, I can't believe people still drink coffee from Starbucks. Lets see... Morally, I don't like them, because they charge firefighters for water, (that's right, water) on 9-11-01. Hello... Building falling down around us... let give the guys a break and maybe stand outside handing the stuff out! Secondly, their coffee just doesn't taste right... Mostly because they over roast everything to "Enhance" the taste of the coffee bean. Over roasting, burns the bean. Their darkest roast is Burnt coffee. Literally. And the more they roast it, the more they "cook" the caffeine right out of it. The lighter the roast the more caffeine. But Starbucks misleads people and makes them think that the more "taste" it has, the more you are getting out of it...

Sorry... didn't mean to totally rant on your comments... but give Caribou a chance. Their coffee is true to what it should be, and most of their employees are much more knowledgeable to the coffee world, and not just the Starbucks world.

Actually I far prefer Caribou coffee, particularly their mochas. Thus my regular "LJ" each Friday.

As for your rant, what you say is indeed true (according to Snopes), but Starbucks hardly has control over the profiteering of a single asshole employee. Though they certainly could have handled the response better afterward. But if you dig hard enough, you can find in most large corporations a supposed political or moral offense to take from a single action or ongoing business practice. For example, one of my friends won't frequent Caribou because the majority of shares are owned by an islamic bank.

Me, I frequent a business because they have a product I want or like. Hitler's brain could be running the company, but if they make a tasty snack or delicious drink, I'm there.
