20% off my feelings

This time of year is sometimes a little tough for me. Finally, I decided to tell those insensitive bastards how I feel! This is an actual reply I sent to an ad I received tonight. Maybe now they'll be more aware of other people's emotions. Click the photo to enlarge.

Maarmie, it's called twisting reality to suit the premise of whatever I'm writing. One day I have feelings, the next I'm numb to the world. 8-D

Just laura, the leaders of industry built on mothers day/fathers day/valentines day/arbitrary day are assholes, every one. It felt great.

Don't get me wrong, I think we all need to show our parents and loved ones now much they mean to us, but why do we need to set aside a specific day for that? So we pump money into the greeting card, flower, and department stores for these contrived holiday.

As long as I'm on a tangent, how about the diamond industry? The tradition of giving diamonds as engagement rings and special gifts was started by (drumroll) the diamond industry. This extraordinarily expensive practice that so many young men go into hawk over to wed their sweethearts, sometimes putting off proposing because they can't afford a ring, is completely an invention of the money-grabbing diamond cartels.

On a note somewhat related to that, here is a fascinating article on the future of diamonds from an issue of Wired that came out about 3 years ago: Wired diamond article
